A guy who refused to leave his fingerprints was punched and kicked
The main respondent is a 23-year-old man from Syria. The respondent reports that he was with other 6 people (3 minors) all in a car directed to Sofia, driven by a Bulgarian man. According to the respondent, the driver did not stop at a police checkpoint, so a police car started to chase them. The respondent states that the driver took a small road, opened the door of the car and just ran away, leaving the whole group of people there.
According to him, a vehicle described as having the Bulgarian flag on the sides of the vehicle arrived at the place, and two men, described as 2 Bulgarian police officers based on the uniforms they were dressed in, went out of the vehicle and started to randomly punch and kick people. The respondent states the policemen called for reinforcements while forcing the group of people on the ground. He reports that when 10 other police officers, dressed in the same way as the other 2, arrived, they started to bring the people to a police station 2 by 2, but a man who was bleeding a lot from his head was brought to the hospital with an ambulance. The respondent states that at the police station they were asked and forced to sign some papers in Bulgarian without having a translator (he reports that he asked for a translator but the police refused to give him one). According to him, the group of people was put in jail, and the next morning they were brought to a court in front of a judge, with a translator present. The respondent claims that later on they were brought to a hospital and again they were forced to sign some papers in Bulgarian without a translator. According to him, they were brought again to the police station and they were forced to leave their fingerprints without the presence of a translator and without being informed of their rights. He reports that the 3 minors were brought to a camp for unaccompanied minors, while the rest of the group was brought to “Busmantsi” camp. The respondent describes this place as a closed camp near Sofia, in which their phones, their money and their personal belongings were taken. According to him, there was not a doctor inside this camp, it was extremely dirty, there was not enough food for everyone and also he claims that there was something inside the food that he describes as “Cafur” [Not clear what this is. Maybe “Kafoor” or Camphor crystals]. The respondent reports that they stayed in this camp for 15 days and during these days they had 3 interviews with some people that the respondent describes as “Arabic people”. He reports that they were not aware of who these people were and why they were doing those interviews. He claims that these people took photos of them, their fingerprints and that a guy who refused to leave his fingerprints was punched and kicked by them. He also reports that they have been threatened to be left in that camp for 6 months, and that during the last interview the group of people was forced to sign a paper with their names, their photos and their fingerprints all written in Bulgarian language, without a translator. According to him, after signing this paper they were let to go out of the camp.
