from Croatia to Bosnia,

The main respondent is a 25-year-old man from Morocco. The respondent reports that he was traveling with a Moroccan friend of the same age. According to him, on the 4th of December, the transit group traveled from Sarajevo to Croatia, successfully crossing the border near Sturlic. Subsequently, the transit group proceeded by walking through the forested area of Slunj. The respondent remembers reaching a point approximately 25 kilometers from Slovenia. The specific location of their apprehension was recalled as the D1 state road, situated between Veljun and Lapovac. The respondent states that at 8:00 in the evening, while walking, they saw two uniformed men in a kneeling position, seemingly lying in wait. The respondent identified them as Croatian police, dressed in dark-blue uniforms. Due to poor illumination, the respondent found it challenging to clearly identify the specific police unit indicated by the uniforms they were wearing. The respondent recalls that a white van with the distinctive blue Policija insignia was at the place.
He further states that the two uniformed men stopped the transit group near the river by firing a gunshot into the air. According to him, the Croatian police officers ordered the group to lie down on the ground and hand over all their phones. He claims that he was kicked in the head by one of the Croatian police officers. The respondent reports that in an attempt to shield himself, he quickly placed his hand between the impact and his head, resulting in an injured hand. The respondent further reports that the police, instead, beat his friend with a baton. According to the respondent, later on the police officers opened the back of the white van and loaded the group onto it. He recalls that after a 20-minute journey in the white van, they arrived at another location where they were transferred to a different vehicle. The respondent states that the transit group was subjected to a second round of beatings upon being returned to the Bosnian border, close to Šturlić.
