The main respondent is a 21-year-old man from Morocco. In November 2024, he was part of a group of 5 Moroccan nationals attempting to cross into Croatia from Bosnia as part of their journey toward Western Europe. His route had started in Turkey and continued through Bulgaria, Serbia, and Bosnia.On the day of the pushback, the group departed from the city Gradiska (Bosnia) which is based on the border. After crossing they walked 60 km in two days and arrived in the town Kutina (Croatia). Next to this little town the police apprehended the group.

From there they got transferred by a police car to a police camp, where they got added to an afghanistan group. In the camp, the hole group was pushed into a white police prisoner transporter and taken to a place 140 km away to a different location on the bosinan border. One of his companions suffered a particularly violent assault, resulting in the permanent loss of vision in one eye, likely due one of the mentioned kicks. Afterwards the group got thrown into a big pit.In the end of these several hours of violence and intimidation, when they were about to be released, the main respondent describes how there was one EPZ officers with a sniper who threatened them. The respondent explains how the safety catch was off, which made them sure they are about to die now, they were extremely terrified.

There they could find a taxi, which transported them back to Velika Kladusa (Bosnia) where they waited for a bus. Due to the cold November temperatures and a lack of available transport, they spent the night at the bus station and only managed to return to Lipa camp, in Bihac, the following day.
