Group forced to cross back to BiH bare foot and wearing only underwear
On 29th of October 2025 our interviewee, a 29-years-old man from Egypt left Bihać in a group of all together 18 people from Egypt, Syria, and Palestine and crossed the border into Croatia by foot. The group included men and about 5 minors in the age between 10-17. The group was caught by the Croatian border police in the forest soon after crossing the border. The officers had one dog with them and pulled their guns to threaten the group.
Everyone was forced to strip till their underwear and remove their shoes. All their money was stolen by the officers, and their phones were collected and destroyed. The people were beaten with hands and batons randomly everywhere in their bodies. Our interviewee’s foot was crushed by one of the officers with a heavy boot, resulting in the injury of the nail and it was coming off.
The group was forced to cross back to BiH bare foot and wearing only underwear in the cold of the mountain. It took them two days by foot to return to the Lipa camp.
