Taken to the border and beaten
The main respondent was one of a group of 4 men (from India, Algeria, Sudan, and Morocco) who were caught on a road in Croatia leading to Slovenia on the 15th June, 2025.
Location where the group was apprehended
The respondent reports that they were caught by two Croatian regular policemen, who took them to the police station where there were three or four more officers present. The respondent describes that the authorities were wearing blue police uniforms with the croatian flag and police hats. Dogs were present, and the police carried pistols, battons and other larger guns. They report that these officers then made them sit in a white van before driving them to the border. Once they were at the border, violence and theft occurred. The police broke their phones and stole around 300 euros from the interviewee. The group were assaulted with police batons, being hit on the back, and the interviewee was punched in the face, resulting in a bloodshot eye (still visible at time of interviewing, 2 weeks after event).
