Location where the pushback took place
After walking for about a day, they crossed the border into Croatia. Approximately five kilometers beyond the border, they were intercepted by six officers identified by the respondent as members of the Croatian Border Police, recognizable by their blue uniforms and the Croatian flag on their sleeves. According to the respondent, the officers shouted “stop” as they approached. When the group attempted to run, the police caught them and began beating them with kicks and truncheons, including blows to the face, while shouting insults. The officers then confiscated the group’s personal belongings and forced about half of them to undress.
The respondent stated that the group was then loaded into a white van and driven for roughly an hour, during which the police appeared to be searching for other people on the move. Eventually, they were taken to an unidentified border area, where all twenty men were beaten again and forced to cross back into Bosnia.
