The two got separated after our interviewee injured his leg and could not continue. He found refuge in a border village in Croatia. It was early morning on the 16th of October when the villagers spotted him and called the police.
When the Croatian police arrived, he showed his injury to the two police officers, but the police ignored his medical emergency and refused to treat him or take him to a hospital, although he was in a lot of pain. The two police officers were aggressive, swearing and insulting him. They confiscated his bag with all his clothes, food, and water. They stole his money and took away his phone and broke it. One of the officers put a gun to his head and ordered him to go to the forest and return to Bosnia across the border and to not come back, insulting him and swearing.
Although he had difficulties walking, he walked about 85 km to reach Lipa camp near Bihać. When the MVI treated him, he was in a bad physical state, coughing badly and a lot of pain. When the MVI team treated him, he was in a severe physical state, coughing badly and in a lot of pain.
