he main respondent is a 26-year-old man from Morocco. According to him, he travelled with another friend from Morocco on Friday the 30th of November from Bosnia to Croatia. He reports that after travelling for two days by foot into the forests and snow, the group was caught by the police and pushed back on Sunday, 3rd of December at around 1-2 am in the morning. The respondent reports that he and his friend were walking in the snow, where everything was snow covered and white. According to him, he and his friend stood out because they were wearing black. The respondent states that he saw nothing but whiteness all around him. He didn’t see any traces of any type of police. He recalls that when they decided to go on an off trail site, they couldn’t see anything because the snowfall was increasing. According to him, they walked 50 metres before they realised that they had walked straight in front of a white vehicle. According to him, they couldn’t notice it because it camouflaged so well amongst the white landscape. At this point they realise they were caught. The respondent reports that “the vehicles are always white, these are the vehicles that they use on us migrants, they don’t use official cars for us, only these white ones. These are the migrant cars”. The respondent reports that inside this unmarked white van there were two men wearing official Croatian Police uniforms. Based on the description, the uniforms could match with those usually worn by Croatian Border Police.
According to the respondent, his friend tried to run, but the police officer kicked him on the back of his leg so that he fell to the ground. At this point, according to the respondent, one of the police officers kicked his friend in the face with his boot. The respondent claims that after that the police officers forced him and his friend into the back of the vehicle, but before they did so they took both of their phones. According to him, the police officers drove them back to a road at the border between Bosnia and Croatia. The respondent reports that at that point, the police officers returned the phones to them but with the charging ports broken and a missing SIM card holder.
According to him, the police officers waited there to ensure the men were well on their way crossing into Bosnia.
