Pushback of minors by Croatian police

The main respondent is a 15-year-old boy from Afghanistan. The respondent reports that he left the city of Sid on the 15th of January 2024 to enter Croatia, together with four other Afghan boys. According to the respondent, the group was travelling together in the back of a truck. He recalls entering Croatia when a vehicles described as a police car stopped the truck.
The respondent reports that four people dressed in blue uniforms, that he describes as Croatian Border police, got out of this car and started checking the truck. The respondent reports that at that point he felt very confused and did not understand what was going on. At some point, he recalls, the back of the truck was opened, the police officers saw them and found them immediately and in a quite brutal way they made them get out. The respondent reports that the whole group started to repeat in English: “We are all minors and we want to apply for asylum, don’t hurt us!”. He claims that the police officers didn’t listen to them, and made them get out. The respondent reports that the group waited for about an hour in the cold on the motorway waiting for a Serbian police van to take them back to Sid. The respondent reports that at around 2 a.m. they were back in Sid in front of the minor’s camp, and no violence was inflicted on them by the police.
